Program
Placements are currently in the following villages and
areas:
Kathmandu
Kathmandu
city, capital of Nepal is surrounded by beautiful country
side otherwise known as the Kathmandu valley. Volunteers
are sent to a number of small, rural mountain villages
in Kathmandu valley such as Dakshinkali, Godawari, Kapan,
Gokarna.
All
of the Villages are located within one hour to one and
half an hour bus ride from the center of Kathmandu. Most
of the villages have well-developed infrastructure with
water readily available and reliable roads. Most of the
villages will have a few shops where you can purchase
bottled water, biscuits, stationeries etc. Local phone
call can usually be made and international phone calls
are also accepted but internet access is usually not available.

Pokhara
The
second tourist center of Nepal, Pokhara lies in a basin
smaller than Kathmandu valley and is only 2,952 above
sea level at the foot of the Annapurna range. It can be
reached by bus in approximately 6 hours and 25 minutes
by air. There are phone, fax, post office and 24 hour
electricity available in the district.

Janakpur
A
historic place in Terai region. It is near to the boarder
between Nepal and India. Lifestyle is influenced by Indian
culture and custom. It is approximately 11 hrs ride by
bus from Kathmandu and 35 minutes by air.

Chitwan
A
famous tourist place of Nepal approximately 5.5 hour drive
from Kathmandu Valley. Twenty minutes by aeroplane. You
can enjoy natural beauty and as well as you can visit
Chitwan National Park. There are phone, fax, post office
and 24 hour electricity available in the district.
Ilam
Ilam
is on the far eastern boarder of Nepal. It is well known
for its rolling hills and valleys, covered with tea gardens.
It is accessible by road and the journey from Kathmandu
takes around 19 hrs by bus. Phone, fax, post office, internet
services are available in the district center. The cheapest
airstrip is Bhadrapur, around 4 and half hrs away by bus
or jeep. It is also known as district of Sunrise.
We have many rural locations in Nepal where we can place
volunteers anywhere from one month to 5 months. Volunteers
opportunities exists in: teaching conversational English
in the local school; creating awareness about basic health
issue; environmental issues, sanitation issues, building
business skills and self-confidence. During this time
volunteers will benefit from cross-cultural experiences
through the home-stay program. |
